Type 1 Diabetes – Another Reason to Ditch Dairy

Fun Fun on a Saturday afternoon! I hope your day is fantastic. This is a press release I had to create today for my plant based nutrition class regarding chronic disease. This is quite informative so I’m sharing it on the blog. Enjoy!

Type 1 Diabetes – Another Reason to Ditch Dairy

Modern nutritional science suggests that dairy products are extremely hazardous to our health. The weight of evidence from various studies show that the proteins and hormones in cow’s milk have been linked to numerous diseases and poor health conditions which zap our quality of life and leave us to suffer. This is contrary to what we have been conditioned to believe about milk… that it does a body good. But thankfully some of us know better!

The entire list of diseases and problems linked to dairy is outrageous and includes: Heart disease, Cancer, Leukemia, Chrohn’s Disease, Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Hepatitis, Hyper and Hypo-thryroidism, Leaky Gut Syndrome, Parkinson’s Disease, Autism, Schizophrenia, Irritability, Restlessness, Hyperactivity, Headaches, Lethargy, Fatigue, Allergies, Muscle Pain, Mental Depression, Enuresis (bed-wetting). SIDS, Eczema, Otitis Media (inner ear trouble), Sinusitis, Wheezing, Asthma, Bloody Stools, Colitis, Diarrhea, Painful Defecation, Infantile Colic, Chronic Constipation, Canker sores, Acne, Gastroesophageal Reflux (GERD), Osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s and many more.

A biggie to note on this list is… Type 1 Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes first starts in infants and eventually somewhere in early childhood robs the pancreas of creating insulin which in turn ruins the child’s life. This doesn’t have to occur when we understand nutrition and avoid animal products namely dairy in this case. Exposing young infants to cow’s milk (dairy derived formula included) exposes the body to “foreign invaders” one of which is a 17 amino acid sequence found in cow’s milk. The infant’s body creates antibodies to counteract this antigen or foreign invader and keeps itself safe. Because of the body’s ability to “remember” the body then recognizes this same pattern of amino acids on the cells of the pancreas which happen to be present if the child is genetically susceptible. The body attacks itself! The body destroys these healthy cells of the pancreas which appear as a threat. This leaves the child diabetic, unable to produce insulin for the rest of his/her life. Children who are genetically susceptible and are exposed to cow’s milk have an 11-13 fold increase risk of type 1 diabetes. That is truly huge! How do you know if your child is genetically susceptible? You don’t. The research hasn’t been established. So if we don’t know, is it really fair to gamble with our children’s lives? There is a profound difference between animal foods and whole plant based foods and their affects on health and disease documented by Dr. T. Colin Campbell and his extensive research with the China Study. It is safe to say dairy does a body bad. Really, really bad!

The American Academy of Pediatrics has seen the evidence of cow’s milk and its effects on infants and suggests that children under the age of 2 not consume cow’s milk. But should we start to give our toddlers cow’s milk at age 2 and throughout childhood? The protein casein in cow’s milk is considered the most relevant carcinogen of our time according to Dr. T. Colin Campbell. Casein fuels cancer growth. The stacking evidence against dairy and animal foods has lead us to a whole foods plant based diet for optimal health. Dairy should be a deal breaker in that it contains 60 active hormones, scores of pesticides, herbicides and powerful antibiotics, blood, pus and radiation. The numbers are only compounded when eating cheese because it takes ten pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese! What about IGF-1? IGF-1 is a powerful growth hormone that fuels cancer cells in humans and is found in all organic and regular milk and is not removed with pasteurization.

Breast milk is best for our infants.  Modern nutritional science also suggests a whole foods plant based diet throughout childhood is best to disease proof our children.
